Team Composition and Size

The Institute on Authentic Assessment (IAA) is designed as a team-based experience. We recommend that each campus team include one team leader and up to five additional team members.

While not required, institutions are encouraged to designate a senior academic leader with budgetary or decision-making authority as the team leader. Teams should reflect a diverse, cross-functional group of colleagues who play active roles in teaching, learning, and assessment on campus.

A typical campus team consists of individuals serving in roles such as the following:

  • Senior academic officers
  • Assessment professionals
  • Faculty members and instructional staff
  • Institutional research professionals
  • Center for teaching and learning staff
  • Academic advisors
  • Student affairs or cocurricular professionals
  • Others with relevant responsibilities related to learning and assessment
