Overview

The Project Kaleidoscope (PKAL) Regional Networks provide low-cost, effective professional development opportunities for STEM faculty and administrators to foster a caring community, explore and advance modern undergraduate STEM pedagogies, disseminate findings from undergraduate STEM research and practice, and promote STEM faculty career advancement.

The Massachusetts PKAL Regional Network Meeting aims to foster dialogue and highlight innovative approaches that bridge the arts and STEM, equipping the next generation of scientists, engineers, artists, and creative thinkers with the skills they need to thrive. The Massachusetts PKAL Regional Network welcomes all faculty and administrators from public and private 2- and 4-year higher education institutions to submit proposals for its upcoming Regional Network Meeting. Proposals that showcase evidence-based practices aligned with the meeting theme, and that are poised for immediate uptake and adaptation in a wide range of institution types, including community colleges and minority serving institutions. Any proposals that directly align with the Regional Network Meeting theme are encouraged. However, other proposal topics that extend beyond this year’s theme and focus on improving undergraduate STEM education are also welcomed.

Meeting Theme

Wondering how we can come together to invigorate interdisciplinary teaching and learning to better support our STEM students and faculty?... The Massachusetts PKAL Regional Network Meeting will provide an important opportunity for faculty from all disciplines to share and learn more about innovative approaches to interdisciplinary undergraduate STEM education, while also fostering dialogue on the ways in which we can – and should – equip our next generation of scientists, artists, and creative thinkers to address real world challenges with expertise and compassion.

Are you new to the idea of infusing arts in your STEM courses? No worries! Consider attending this meeting to learn from other like-minded colleagues who routinely incorporate the arts in novel and creative ways into their undergraduate STEM courses.

Do you just want to turn up the volume on your creativity in STEM?  Even if you've always blended the arts into your teaching through movement, media, performance, sound, or storytelling, this meeting is for you! Join us and share your wins, challenges, and inspiration with others who desire to do the same.
