VE/COIL in Action: Industry Partnerships and Global Competencies
June 18, 2025
–
How do globally connected classrooms prepare students for success in today’s workforce?
This webinar highlighted how employer-informed virtual exchange/collaborative online international learning (VE/COIL) projects can cultivate critical career skills, while providing meaningful, inclusive access to global learning.
We spotlighted a VE/COIL collaboration between Babson College, Nord University, and Yara International, a global leader in agricultural solutions. As the industry partner, Yara International designed a workplace challenge that mirrors the real-world complexities global enterprises face during large-scale organizational and technological change. Students worked in cross-cultural teams to respond to the challenge, developing communication, adaptability, intercultural competence, and applied problem-solving skills.
Panelists shared insights into designing VE/COIL projects that meet both academic and employer expectations. They also explored how industry-academic partnerships can serve as a foundation for advancing global learning, scaling experiential education, and driving institutional innovation.
