David Swisher

Director of Online Services, Kingswood University

David J. Swisher is an AI Trainer & Consultant and educational technology specialist with over two decades of experience integrating cutting-edge technology into higher education environments. He currently serves as the Director of Online Services at Kingswood University.

He has presented dozens of times at conferences on AI ethics, assessment practices in light of generative AI, innovation, and faculty development, as well as LMS administration. He recently trained over 5,500 T-Mobile employees nationwide on Enterprise ChatGPT for data analysis, and has also trained hundreds of faculty on generative AI tools and resources.  In Fall 2025, Swisher earned a certificate in “AI & Machine Learning” from Purdue University, and he is currently reviewing electives and studying for the AWS “AI Practitioner” certification.
Swisher’s recent book Early Warning: How to Lead with Wisdom in Times of Technological Disruption (Invite Press, 2025) helps organizational leaders navigate disruptive technology innovation.

Swisher previously served as Senior Learning Experience Designer at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he pioneered generative AI implementation efforts, developed faculty resources, and oversaw a grant-funded AI “Learn & Share” initiative that engaged 36 faculty across three campuses and culminated in an institution-wide AI Showcase. For nearly a decade prior, he was the Director of Learning Management Technologies at Tabor College. With more than 24 years of leadership in educational technology, he has helped multiple universities adopt AI tools with strategic intentionality and ethical responsibility.

Swisher earned his doctorate in Semiotics & Future Studies from George Fox University, and holds a Master’s in Instructional Design & Technology from Emporia State University.  His published research, extensive training expertise, and ability to convey complex AI concepts with clarity highlight his success in guiding educational institutions through both LMS and AI integration.
